Battle Spot is the feature within Pokémon X and Y that allows you to queue for automatic matchmaking against other players around the world. The banlist and clauses are identical to the Battle Maison and comes in four formats: Singles, Doubles, Triples, and Rotation. Battle Spot also offers a Special ladder with a new ruleset every few months, with past ladders including VGCs, Inverse Battles, and Game Freak's variant of UU that bans the 12 most consistently used Pokemon in a format. That Mega Kangaskhan (or Aegislash, or whatever else you don't like to play against) will be forced into many more risky 1v1 circumstances than they would in 6v6 singles, where they would have much more support and favorable switch-in conditions.If the fact that Game Freak is setting the rules intimidates you, one must also remember that VGC is another format endorsed by Game Freak, much like Battle Spot. The VGCs are widely recognized as a competitive metagame, and in some years, Battle Spot/PGL doubles and VGC have used the same ruleset. Battle Spot is very much rooted in competitive traditions that reward skill, even if the banlist is beyond the control of players. Some might see that as a benefit to Battle Spot, as player bias in determining rulesets has long been controversial. Hackmons is a tier created by (I think) Smogon, which allows a Pokémon to use any move, any ability, and more than 510 total EVs (e.g. 252 in every stat). They'll be a thread that explains Hackmons properly soon. Obviously it's going to a play a lot differently to standard tiers, so it'll be interesting to see how it ends up.In other things, Alice/Cirno has added all the trainer sprites from Gen 1-3, giving a total of 719 trainer sprites from all generations. Also the ability to add any number of battle_fields to a theme has been added. Simply drop the files you want to use in the battle_fields folder and as long as they're in PNG format, the battle window will pick them up. Purposes! Pokerus - You may have heard of a "virus" in the Pokémon games known as Pokérus. If you haven't, don't stress yourself, as there is only a 1/21845 chance for a Pokémon to actually be diagnosed by the mysterious virus. If a Pokémon in your party does have Pokérus, the nurse at the Pokémon Center will tell you. A Pokémon will also have the symbol in its profile if it does have the virus. In order to spread the virus around, you will want two Pokémon in your party: a Pokérus patient and a patient-to-be. Have the patient battle a few Pokémon (usually 3-7) until the symbol appears in the patient-to-be's profile. For more information, head over to the Smogon Wi-Fi Forums; I'm sure that a lot of friendly faces are willing to give you a hand. Anyway, what's so good about a stupid virus, you ask? Well...Pokérus doubles EVs earned. That's why it's such a useful thing to have. However, Pokérus is not unlimited. If you leave your Pokémon in your party and not in your PC for one day, the Pokémon in question will no longer be able to spread Pokérus, indicated by the symbol . As said before, this Pokémon will be unable to spread Pokérus, but still has the effects of Pokérus remaining. It is not recommended that you begin EV Training without Pokérus. Have your Pokémon contract it now! The Macho Brace - The Macho Brace is another excellent item that also doubles EVs earned. You can get it by heading to Pastoria City, entering a house directly north of the Poké Mart, talking to the boy, and showing him both genders of Combee.
